In the Bolivian highlands stands a silver mountain that eats men. Here, the everyday intertwines with mysticism, and silver – with death.
A captivating audiovisual journey into one of the oldest mines of Bolivia, where death weighs as much as the mined silver. In the silence and darkness of a trembling mountain, sweat mixes with the blood of history. Through the eyes of a boy, an old miner and a widow, a story emerges about the endless cycle of exploitation. Five centuries of mining have claimed millions of lives, but no one will stop as long as there is still silver in the mountain.
„A truly immersive and gripping film, mesmerizing with its masterful cinematography and sound design. Director Natalia Koniarz does not shy away from darkness – both in content and form – and presents what is perhaps the most realistic portrait of the world in recent years, allowing viewers to feel the pain, hardship, and exhaustion of capitalist reality. It’s a film that’s dreaming the nightmare of reality.“ – Eva Sinicaitė, curator of the Emerging Filmmakers Competition programme.
