Heat

A dystopian audiovisual experience that takes us to the Persian Gulf, where the suffocating +50° C heat relentlessly transforms every aspect of human life.

The Persian Gulf is one of the hottest regions on Earth. For those who can afford it, the outside world becomes almost optional – it has been replaced by air-conditioned rooms and on-demand convenience. However, this comes at the cost of suffering, and sometimes even the lives of others. It is a world shaped by extreme conditions, where the heat is not merely a background but a merciless force that actively shapes people’s lives and forms new social structures. A dystopia with stunning sound design and cinematography that must be experienced in a cinema.

„Heat depicts the feverish everyday life of the Persian Gulf so candidly that it makes your head spin. It is a film of rare sensuality, drawing into a shimmering mirage of the present that resembles the worlds of science fiction more than our own sweating Earth. And yet, this is it.“ – Rugilė Pranculytė, curator of the Green Competition programme.
