The Beauty of Errors

In a bleak corner of Finland, a (tipsy) father teaches his (clumsy) son how to drive. But their bond is held together by a love that leaves no room for disappointment.

A film filled with Aki Kaurismäki-like humour tells the story of a tender father-son bond inevitably transformed by time. When Henri was born, Tero promised that the house would belong to his son once he came of age. But now, as Henri builds a life of his own with his girlfriend, a promise once made so effortlessly becomes a painful test for Tero himself. Forced to say goodbye not only to his home but also to the everyday closeness they shared, he learns to let go and rediscover life in solitude. Continuing the story begun in the documentary The Living Room of a Nation, the director returns to Tero and Henri, creating a portrait of a changing relationship between generations and revealing how even the strongest bonds of love are challenged by the inevitable transformations of life.

Tickets for the screening on 24 October at the Pranas Domšaitis Gallery in Klaipėda will be available for purchase at the gallery’s box office on the day of the screening only. Tickets are offered on a pay-what-you-can basis.
