A ripe debut, awarded at <em>Cannes<\/em>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After living in Belgium for many years, the director Deni Oumar Pitaev visits the picturesque mountain valley in Georgia, where the Chechen diaspora is settled. He is greeted by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and parents. They talk warmly, laugh together, share everything and nothing. But do they have anything in common? Deni walks a bit awkwardly, can\u2019t do a pull up or shoot a gun, doesn\u2019t have a wife or children. He talks about his feelings, wants to build a house floating above the ground and dares to ask his father about the lack of love he experienced growing up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201e<em>An impressively mature and smart debut film by D\u00e9ni Oumar Pitsaev, where every moment is ripe with lightness and humour, history, memory, trauma, and expectations for each other and oneself \u2013 just like in life. The subtly surrealistic cinematography reveals reality through new eyes, strips away all masks and highlights illusions. For this truly authentic perspective, the film became a double winner at last year\u2019s Cannes.<\/em>\u201c \u2013 Eva Sinicait\u0117, curator of the Emerging Filmmakers Competition programme.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tickets for the screening on 18 October at the Pranas Dom\u0161aitis Gallery in Klaip\u0117da will be available for purchase at the gallery\u2019s box office on the day of the screening only.
