VAKARĖLIS: Soundscapes from Wolf Street

INCONVENIENT FILMS festival and Arts agency “Artscape” and Youngs’ Club invite you to spend a night together dancing, talking and making new connections! The goal of the party is to enjoy diverse musical soundtracks, dance and have a good time welcoming those, for whom Lithuania is their second or third home.

The idea for this gathering came in mind of festival program curators through a film “Letters From Wolf Street”, directed by Arjun Talwar. One street in downtown Warsaw is the focus of this witty and personal portrait of Poland. Arjun immigrated here a decade ago, but still has trouble fitting in. Wolf Street – or Ulica Wilcza – hasn’t made it easy for him. In an attempt to accelerate his integration, the director begins filming his neighbours uncovering hidden mysteries of the street and revealing a web of charming characters. He finds others like himself, people who live between past and present, between an imagined homeland and a real one.

Haven’t seen this movie? Just before the party on the night of 16th of October we welcome you to attend the screening in cinema theater Skalvija at 18.30. And straight after dwell into the soundscapes of today’s Vilnius, connecting different identities and stories through music.

DJ’s will play alone and in duets, mellow, playful, beat-up music at the same time collaborating and trying to present their home cultures. The setlist of musicians will be announced shortly.

During the evening we will invite you to take part in easy games, so that conversation with the neighbour could start smoother and help you to make the first move to break the sometimes uncomfortable silence.

The event is free of charge and welcomes everybody from 21:00 at the at the Youngs’ Club (in Halė Market).
