Uncanny Haptics

Fingers multiply, joints are false, movement is algorithmic. Familiar gestures — massage, stroking, holding — become unreliable. The haptic “uncanny valley” emerges: a visible touch that the body does not recognize. Therapeutic touch turns into an industrial simulacrum, offering the promise of comfort and the rhetoric of efficiency. The politics of touch are rewritten here by statistics; intimacy is produced by systems that learn from data but know nothing of pain.

This work is presented at NK-INTERACTIVE — an immersive exhibition at the Radvila Palace Museum of Art. The exhibition runs from October 17–26.

The ticket indicates the time of your visit and the title of the first experience — your starting point for the exhibition. After viewing your first work, you are free to explore the full programme, trying out different VR experiences, video games, and installations. Your time at the exhibition is unlimited, so you can experience as many works from the program as you like.
