Replacements

The virtual reality film „Replacements“ portrays a family observing their neighborhood — day by day, generation by generation, change by change. Though the characters and their settlement are fictional, the story is inspired by real people and places. This family becomes a witness to environmental, political, and cultural transformations within an urban landscape.

The work raises universal questions about consumerism, digitalization, mobility, and the loss of biodiversity. It invites us to reflect on how urban expansion and technological progress shape our relationship with nature, how traditional ways of life fade, and how we might envision a more sustainable future.

More than a story of change, „Replacements“ is a meditation on sustainability: on the need to preserve ecological balance in a rapidly transforming world. It is an invitation to revisit recent history, trace its roots, and reflect on how we arrived at the present moment — so that we may better understand the choices we must make for the future.
