“Ito Meikyū” is an endless labyrinth inspired by Japanese art history and literature, awarded the Venice Immersive Grand Prize at last year’s Venice International Film Festival.
In this virtual realm of wandering, participants use their gaze to select and animate scenes teeming with plants, objects, animals, men, women, and motifs of art and calligraphy. Interior and exterior, light and darkness, femininity and masculinity — even the most opposing notions merge within this striking sensory fresco.
Life here unfolds like a loom, weaving a living fabric from countless branching threads and pathways. The experience becomes a kind of hide-and-seek with the universe, with we ourselves — the all-seeing observers — at its center.
This work is presented at NK-INTERACTIVE — an immersive exhibition at the Radvila Palace Museum of Art. The exhibition runs from October 17–26.
