Winner of the Achievement Prize at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, Impulse: Playing With Reality explores the extremes of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). It is a story about the exhilaration of impulsive actions and the ability to recognize one’s own behavioral patterns. The experience brings together sharp-witted gameplay and dramatic first-hand accounts of people whose intense emotions lead them to a life at the edge.
Leanne turns her world into a game to escape boredom. Omar’s chaotic mind focuses on mastermining risky heists. Errol creates a madcap persona to get respect. And Tara is on the brink – of giving up. Their stories unfold through interviews interwoven with the voice of narrator Tilda Swinton. Visitors will follow the tangled threads of thought as they wander through disarray. Shadows on the walls transform into gateways to labyrinths, while words fracture into alternative meanings and possibilities.
This work is presented at NK-INTERACTIVE — an immersive exhibition at the Radvila Palace Museum of Art. The exhibition runs from October 17–26.
