Girls Move Mountains

High in the Pakistan mountain range, Karishma, a young Indigenous woman, leads a girls’ football tournament, challenging the patriarchal norms of her community. Drawing strength from her grandmother’s wisdom, she empowers mountain girls and fights for a more just world.

Through football, Karishma and her sister gained their own personal freedom. But freedom always comes at a price. As girls, they were often harassed in the streets for dressing in football attire. Now that they are women, their battle is fought online and through the media, where crowds of aggressive men look down on them and insult them for being women fighting for the rights of girls in the mountains.
