Twelve-year-old Michael lives with his parents in a cheap hotel – a so-called “flophouse” – where everyday life is entangled with the chaos of addiction. Though his parents love him, they are trapped in alcoholism and poverty. Through an intimate and sensitive portrayal of their daily reality, the film exposes how extreme social inequality confines families to the edges of society. Against the backdrop of a painful tragedy that becomes a turning point, we witness Michael’s journey toward maturity and survival. A moving yet hopeful portrait of childhood on society’s edge.
