7th-26th of October
The film programme of the festival is rich and inspiring in terms of the stories it tells, but the programme of the festival’s events is equally intriguing, especially the highlights of the festival! Premieres, storytelling, the alternative reality, opening night and awards ceremony: more on all of them in this events section.
This year, the European Commission awarded Vilnius the title of a particularly environmentally friendly city, which not only proves the efforts of consistent work, but also the responsibility to develop sustainable living in the capital. Therefore, during the festival, together with the “Vilnius – European Green Capital 2025” project, we invite you to one of the most prominent events in the program to evaluate and change the relationship between humans and nature. We welcome schoolchildren to educational activities, young people to a film-making challenge, and festival visitors to the first-ever in the festival 3D film screening and a special screening of “Koyaanisqatsi”. These will not only be breathtaking experiences, but also ones that provide knowledge and, we believe, will have a positive impact on the future of us all.
Concentrated, bold, and insightful – if you want to experience the essence of the "Inconvenient Films" festival, we invite you to spend three weekends at Muzeoteka. Our long-standing partnership with the Lithuanian Theater, Music and Cinema Museum allows you to dive into a diverse programme: films, discussions, meetings with filmmakers and podcasters. Exciting documentaries, Lithuanian premieres, discussions about motherhood stereotypes, people at war and many other urgent topics. Also, for the first time in Lithuania, a presentation of the unique Ukrainian War Archive.
What makes inconvenient films special is that when they are over, we are left with a lot of questions which we want to discuss out loud with another person(s). For this reason, after some screenings –we will discuss the films and the topics they cover with human rights activists and experts in various fields. After all, sometimes a film is only the starting point for a broader discussion and reflection, and what happens afterwards is may be more important than the screen.
Are you curious to know how the film’s protagonists live now, or what happened afterwards? Ask, and you will be answered! After the films, we will pose questions to their creative teams.
