Weekend for UKRAINE | October 17–19

The INCONVENIENT FILMS festival, in collaboration with the Ukrainian human rights documentary film festival DocuDays.UA and the civil society initiative Ukraine War Archive, invites you to a weekend program of events dedicated to Ukraine’s resistance to Russian aggression and the search for justice.

The focus of the event is the presentation of the Ukraine War Archive. This is an initiative that brings together documentarians, researchers, and civil society activists who collect, systematize, and preserve testimonies of war. The archive is becoming a strategic tool not only in combating disinformation and strengthening collective memory, but also in ensuring that the testimonies and evidence collected in it will be used in the future to hold those responsible for war crimes accountable.

The program for the event, which will take place on October 17-19, includes films and discussions with representatives of Lithuanian institutions, experts, activists, and supporters of Ukraine, raising important questions:

  • What awaits Ukraine after laying down its arms and signing a peace agreement?
  • How can Lithuania’s support for Ukraine go beyond military resources?
  • What role does civil society play in recording crimes?
  • Can art and documentation become a form of civil defense?

ABOUT THE ARCHIVE

The Ukraine War Archive is a collaborative digital preservation platform that collects evidence and testimonies related to Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russia’s war against Ukraine is the most documented act of military aggression in history. To ensure that this evidence serves not only as a testimony to a historical period, but is also accessible and usable in courts, investigative journalism, scientific research, and the arts, it is professionally collected and stored.

The archive contains material related to civilian resistance, crimes committed by the aggressor in Ukraine, violent crimes, and other crimes. It also contains material about the daily life of Ukrainians during the war, including evacuations, bomb shelters, and similar experiences. In addition, the Ukrainian War Archive stores interviews with witnesses of war.

The Ukrainian War Archive aims to create a unified database that would serve as a convenient and effective tool not only for preserving information, but also for protecting society from misinformation and combating Russian propaganda. The aim is for the archives to preserve the history of Ukraine’s resistance for future generations and help ensure justice for the Ukrainian people.
