7th-26th of October
Can a fifteen-year-old know whether they will want to have children in the future? Does the personal experience of specialists help or sometimes hinder their work? And how sensitively should we talk about gender, pronouns, and choices that affect a person’s identity? Director Ingrid Kamerling’s film “they/them” opens the door to the daily life of a gender clinic in the Netherlands—with all its psychological, administrative, and financial challenges—while showing how much effort it takes to help young people and their families navigate emotional changes.
After the screening, we invite you to a discussion about the reality in Lithuania, which is still very far from the possibilities and issues seen in the film. We will talk to members of the trans community living in Lithuania and international guests attending the ILGA-Europe conference. This will be an opportunity to compare different experiences, discuss the situation of transgender rights, hear the live voice of the Lithuanian community, and learn about the international context.
The discussion is being organised on the occasion of the ILGA-Europe 2025 annual conference, which the European LGBTI rights umbrella organisation is organising in cooperation with its partners in Lithuania – the National LGBT+ Rights Association LGL and the Tolerant Youth Association.
The discussion will be held in English.
