NK-INTERACTIVE

NK-INTERACTIVE, organized together with Human Rights Film Festival “Inconvenient films”, is the first XR exhibition in Lithuania. It aims to introduce the public to new audiovisual expressions: augmented reality (“XR”) works and their variety of forms. The term “XR” combines technologies such as virtual reality (“VR”), augmented reality (“AR”) and mixed reality (“MR”). Today, these technologies are pushing the boundaries of cinema, creating new formats of experience that enable the viewer to be an active participant in the story instead of just a passive observer.

XR programmes have already become an important part of many prestigious film festivals such as Cannes, Venice, IDFA, CPH:DOX and others. Last year, for the first time, such a programme accompanied a documentary film festival in Lithuania. This year, the exhibition returns for the second time with a curated selection that will present not only works that have already been acclaimed at significant cultural events abroad, but also works by local XR creators. This is a unique opportunity to play, explore and discover the most outstanding, widely acclaimed XR works of recent years. The project will also include educational events for pupils, echoing the inclusive education debate in the country.

This year, NK-INTERACTIVE will take place on October 17th-27th. It will invite you to return to a special space – the legendary basement of the Radvila Palace Museum of Art, also known as the former club WOO (Vilniaus g. 24, Vilnius). The exhibition will be open from 15:00 to 21:00 on weekdays and from 13:00 to 21:00 on weekends.

Registration can be done online by purchasing a ticket for suggested virtual reality films. When arriving upon your registration time, you will be escorted to your chosen work. After the experience, you are invited to explore all the other works in the exhibition. A solidarity ticket will also be available for purchase during the exhibition, but in this case we cannot guarantee that there will be places available for all the XR works at the time of arrival.

The works are not translated into Lithuanian and will be shown in English only.
