If only there was one tool to help teachers present human rights issues to their students in a fun and engaging way… We have good news – there IS!
“Compass” is a practical tool and resource for human rights education. It was first published in 2002 and translated into Lithuanian in 2010. It is now available in more than 30 languages!
More than a decade after the first Lithuanian translation was published, the Lithuanian Centre for Human Rights presents an updated edition of this human rights handbook. On this occasion, the Lithuanian Centre for Human Rights and human rights festival Inconvenient Films invite you to a special event on 24 October at 1 pm, during which we will invite you to a screening of the documentary film “Following Valeria”. The film will be accompanied by an interactive session demonstrating how to integrate human rights issues into formal and non-formal education using materials of the “Compass”. We will also take time to discuss the situation of human rights education in Lithuania with policy, education and advocacy experts. Is there enough human rights education in schools? What success stories could inspire us to make further changes?
The event is free of charge, but pre-registration is required by filling in this form. The event is suitable for students in upper grades (13 years and older).

The Lithuanian translation of “Compass” is co-financed by the European Commission, the Swedish Institute and the Embassy of Sweden in Vilnius.
