8-27th of October
Human rights are not just a legal concept. It is an everyday practice that weaves the stories of life. They are alive, emerging from conversations, jobs, daily struggles, victories and defeats. Stories make us and we make them.
One of the stories that has been written for 30 years is called the Lithuanian Centre for Human Rights. On the occasion of this anniversary, Inconvenient Talks, which was successfully launched last year, returns to the festival programme! We will invite the audience to continue to explore the art of storytelling and to contribute to a diverse, personal and impactful conversation about human rights.
In 2023, “Inconvenient Talks” attracted a great deal of interest. Six very different but equally engaging stories about birth experiences, sexuality, disability, poverty, migration and sexual harassment were viewed more than 2000 times on LRT.lt.
The stories, accompanied by storyteller Milda Varnauskaitė, can be heard on 12 October at 2 pm at the Lithuanian Theatre, Music and Film Museum.
Milda Varnauskaitė is a professional oral storyteller and storytelling art teacher. Milda performs as a storyteller at various events in Lithuania and abroad, sharing autobiographical, folk, and historical stories.
