Since 2007, “Inconvenient Films” has been working as a platform for media education and human rights education, aiming to make a significant and lasting change in society. We believe that positive change is driven by education, so we have introduced a new tagline in this year’s festival programme – “Change Starts Here” – featuring films and events that we recommend for professors and students.
Documentary cinema is a great tool for immersive learning, and the events that accompany the screenings – meetings with the protagonists of the films, presentations, discussions or talks with experts on the topics covered by the films – brings the festival programme up to date and puts the themes of the films in a local context. For educators of all backgrounds, documentary films offer a wider range of opportunities to engage pupils and students, to capture their attention, and at the same time to develop critical thinking and emotional intelligence. The documentaries and critical reflection provided by the “Inconvenient Films” festival can have a profound emotional impact on each screening participant, and the quality of the experience, accompanied by a discussion, can raise important questions and seek answers in terms of ethics or values, the intersection of individual opinions or the different points of view of the members of a group.
The festival programme features the latest documentaries from around the world on a wide range of topical issues such as politics, mental health, gender equality, migration, LGBTQ+, social exclusion, technology and more. The events of “Inconvenient Films” could successfully complement the curricula of professors in political science, journalism, law, psychology, philosophy and many other subjects. However, the wide range of topics it presents is relevant to all young people, regardless of their field of study.

- For lecturer’s accreditation – for Vilnius-based lecturers;
- For students accreditation – for students from Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai.
