The murder of a young journalist, Ján Kuciak, and his fiancée sparks the biggest protests in Slovakia since the fall of communism. The journalist’s colleagues, themselves vigilant in protecting their lives, launch an investigation knowing full well that the killer’s aim was to silence not only Ján, but the entire independent media. Soon they are able to link the crime to a prominent businessman close to the government and its prime minister. The journalist’s death brings the country to a crisis – has Slovakia become a country where people uncomfortable with profit are simply got rid of?
