And, of course, it gets severe negative reactions. “The only way to fight radical Islam is through Islam,” says Seyran Ateş, one of the first women imams in Europe to establish the first liberal mosque in Germany in which men and women pray together and which is also open to members of the LGBT community. The woman seeks to modernize Islam and believes in a freer life of a new generation of Muslims.
