About“There will be no more night” is a documentary based on video recordings from the American and the French armed forces in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria. During their nighttime missions in war zones soldiers use cameras to observe movement on the ground. From a distance mediated by digital cameras, it is difficult to recognize whether the blurred figure is a Taliban fighter with an RPG or mere shepherd with a stick. Thus, the tension between observation and interpretation is ever-present. And the fear of making a mistake. The film once again questions what we want to see and what we actually see. Especially when other’s life depend on our gaze.
