A teenager Oscar dreams of escaping the grip of his abusive father whom he helps collect scrap metal in unauthorized dumps in Sicily and then resell it. Not far from them lives Stanley, a Nigerian refugee, who also has a similar dream—to escape Sicily and relocate to another country. But something is keeping him on the island. Thus, he works in a church and as a farmhand to survive. In this intense and beautifully shot film, Michele Pennetta offers these two beings, seemingly separated by everything, a possibility of a meeting that will reveal their condition, equivalent to that of prisoners on an island.
