Synopsis

In 1944, US Air Force took a series of aerial photographs of Auschwitz concentration camp and its suffering inmates. These pictures are thought to be one of the first pieces of photographic evidence of the existence of Auschwitz. However, these photographs were overlooked until 1977, when a pair of CIA photo-analysts were searching old files. Farocki asks: How come the military strategists ignored the pictures and the horrors of the concentration camps?
