Eva, 25 – drifter, influencer, Berliner, poet, a self-determined sex worker, recovering addict, feminist, model – declared privacy an outdated concept at the age of 14: “I dedicate my life to showing the world that one can pretend to be whoever they want.” At 17, Eva left her home in a small Italian town and set off in search of freedom. Her unconventional life and the explicit pictures and texts she posts about it in the social media sites attracts thousands of fans. As if her fragmented, always reinventing personality has become a mirror of a contemporary digital generation that is defined by a constant uncertainty of the future. Pia Hellenthal’s intoxicating and ambivalent debut is an intimate and symptomatic portrait of the age we are living in.
