On October 13th, 2016, the 10th Human Rights Film Festival Inconvenient Films opened in the grand hall of Multikino cinema in Vilnius with the latest Gianfranco Rosi film “Fire at Sea” (2016).
During his opening speech festival director Gediminas Andriukaitis compered the 1st and the 10th festival catalogue: “We can easily distinguish which belongs to the first and which to the tenth. These publications are an excellent reflection of what the festival has experienced in 10 years. While the two are different in size, professionalism and ambition, one thing remained unchanged. It is our sincere belief in the power of documentary film and willingness to talk on all human rights issues, even the most inconvenient”.
The 10th edition of “Inconvenient Films” took place in 10 cities of Lithuania reaching out to the audience of 12 500 viewers with more than 50 films and 30 international guests from all over the world – filmmakers, activists and film protagonists. In addition, more than 20 accompanying events (discussions, workshops, exhibitions, etc.) took place during the festival.
