On October 13 the 10th human rights film festival “Inconvenient Films” opened in Vilnius. Fifty documentary films, dozens of events: debates, workshops and meetings with film directors will be held during the festival all around Lithuania until November 8.
Festival director Gediminas Andriukaitis was comparing the 1st and the 10th catalogue of the festival during his opening speech. “We can easily distinguish which belongs to the first and which to the tenth. These publications are an excellent reflection of what the festival has experienced in 10 years. While the two are different in size, professionalism and ambition, one thing remained unchanged. It is our sincere belief in the power of documentary film and willingness to talk on all human rights issues, even the most inconvienent “- he said.
“Inconvenient Films “- the annual international documentary film festival is unique in its program and format. It is a social – cultural project that is open to everyone. Despite the festival’s social mission and non-commercial nature, “Inconvenient Films” is also one of the most-visited film events in Lithuania and the only one of its kind film festival in the Baltic countries.
